Description

Semi-evergreen, upright tree. It has alongated seedpods, fragrant yellow blooms, and leaves that are a dark green leathery color. On roadsides and in the humid tropics, plant shade trees or cover crops for income crops. Likewise raised as an ornamental. Heartwood is red, robust, and sturdy; sap wood is soft and light, unreliable, and of little use. good for building, cartwright work, and carpentry. Bark includes tannins, which give leather a light yellow hue; tannins are also found in leaves and wood. Bark for dysentery, tooth powder, eye lotion, and embrocation for pains and sores are some of the medicinal uses; the bark also produces a yellow dye. Can be utilized as a specimen tree or for shade.
